Kumar Sanu as a good Bollywood singer

Kumar Sanu started publicly singing in 1979 singing in shows and restaurants around Calcutta in a style heavily influenced by the legend Kishore Kumar. He made his way in bollywood in 1987 by music director's Jagjit Singh who recognised his mastery in romantic ghazals and he was offered a chance to sing a song in Bollywood movie 'Andhiyan' after this he had his move to the B-town and started his career as a playback singer in Bollywood.

He got his first breakthrough in 1990 with the film Aashiqui. The soundtrack of this flick was composed by Naveen Sharma, Kumar Sanu sang all the songs but one song featured on the soundtrack album made him a star for which he won his 1^st Filmfare Award. Then he won five consecutive Filmfare Awards for the best Male Playback Singer. He won the Awards for Saajan, Deewana, Baazigar, and 1942: A Love Story (in order, up through 1994).

Aashiqui set the ball rolling for Kumar Sanu. Aashiqui was a major turning point for Sanu. He sang all but one of the songs in the album composed by Nadeem-Shravan. Sanu rendered the title song, ‘Tu meri zindagi hain ‘Nazar ke saamne’, ‘Jaane jigar jaaneman’, ‘Dheere, dheere se meri Zindagi mein aana’, amazingly. He went on to sing hit songs in films like Sadak (‘Tujhe apna bana ne ki kasam khayi hai’), Deewana (The title song), Baazigar (Title song) (‘Kali kali ankhen), Saajan (‘Jeeye to jeeye kaise) (‘Mera dil bhi kitna pagal hai’), 1942 A Love Story (‘Rim jhim’, ‘Ek ladki ko dekha’, ‘Kuch na kahon’), Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, (‘Tujhe dekha to yeh jaana sanam’), Pardes (‘Meri Mehbooba’, ‘Do dil mil rahe hain’), Kareeb ‘Chori chori’ and others.

Recently, Sudesh Bhosle was overwhelmed as so many of his friends came to wish him on birthday celebration on June 30 at Hotel Sea Princess in Juhu. Beside bollywood movies she have recorded songs for Telugu and Tamil movies. When Shewta was of 5,she worked with Ilayaraja for the movie Anjali, which was dubbed in Hindi from Tamil. She dubbed for the lead role in the movie in Hindi.Her first album was Main Zindagi Hoon,which was released when she was 16 years old with Virgin Records, India. She was featured in 3 videos from this album. while the other numbers from the album included Aplam Chaplam - the Star Mix, a remix album of the classic bollywood songs, featuring Salman Khan in the Video.

The clouds of grimness have finally parted away for Pakistani singer Adnan Sami, dragged in legal issue with his alienated partner Sabah Galadhari,Few days back the Bombay high court granted him the permission to travel abroad for execution till his trial under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) finishes.

Adnan filed an appeal in the same context to Justice BR Gavai before the approval of this,which was rejected. The judge asked him to pay two security of Rs1.50 crore so as to assure that he would return to India and will appear before the court when the trial is conducted. If Adnan fails to comply the order and do not return to India to stand for the trial, then he will be locked in Arthur Road jail.

Mahesh Jethmalani, Galadhari’s counsel along with advocate Edith Mendes Dey was not in favor of Sami’s orison proded it to cancel stating that if Sami gets the permission there is every likelihood that he wont return to India. Adnam laywer Vibhav Krishna said in his defense that though Sami is from Pakistan,but to use his potential,India is the best platform,then why wont he return back to India. He also said that the organizers of the show Rajendra Lodhia and Mital Lodhia will be the two sureties, of Rs 1 crore and Rs 50 lakhs.

Ismail Darbar apologies for his mistake

He made the statement just to warn Rehman with no intention of insulting the Academy.Darbar said that he is not ashamed of asking for forgiveness. Bollywood renowned playback singer Sonu Nigam email id was hacked,he took immdediate action to secure it. Sonu's friend stared receiving random emails,from his emial id when he was busy in the shoot of a TV show. He dint disclosed anything regarding the content of these 'unwanted' random mails. The mails were posted to everyone on his address list. The contact list consisted of his colleagues,seniors and even to people with whom he have'nt interacted for past seven or eight years. He apologized to all of them.

As he got the news of the email hack, he immediately regained the control over his Id by changing his password as well the security questions. He has'nt lodged any complain regarding this in the cyber crime cell of the Mumbai police.Recently Sonu have changed his last name spelling from 'Nigam' to 'Niigaam' according to numerology,but when he dint got the desired results, he again returned back to the old spelling of his last name 'Nigam'. The other judge roped in along with Sonu Nigam for the show is Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shreya Ghoshal.This singing talent show is an adaptation of the successful international show The X Factor, the channel targets to hunt for the X-treme singer/performer who can capture the imagination of the nation with his music, under the expert guidance of the judges who will mentor the budding Stars.

X- Factor will give every individual an opportunity to showcase their talent regardless of age and background. Candidates who make their way through the final selections will be divided in three groups with each group having a mentor .The first group will constitute of - 16 - 25 years, above 25 years and individual groups, candidates will be screened for their singing talent, attitude and star quality and based on this final selection will be made,after this they will perform in front of judges and live crowd in mega concerts. Though it has been stated that a formal announcement has been made only about the apperance of Sonu Nigam and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whereas, Shreya Ghoshal too has been approached in to judge the show. Sanjay Leela Bhansali stated that he doesn’t know how to explain the term X Factor.

Amitabh Bachchan has this X factor, but the filmmaker didn’t had words to explain this X factor. The first season of X Factor will be horded by playbacksinger-anchor-actor Aditya Narayan. With X-factor flouting records globally, Sony entertainment television is looking forward to its launch in India as soon as possible. Ruma Guha Thakurtawas born in 1934 in a Bengali family. Her mother was also a playback singer. Ruma Guha Thakurta completed her studies in various places like Santiniketan for a short while. The singer was educated first in Loretto and then in Gokhale School and thereafter Sacred Heart School, Lahore. Ruma was married to Kishore Kumar in May 1951 in Bombay, and their son Amit Kumar was born the following year. But the couple under unfavourable circumstances got divorced in 1958.

She then got settled in Calcutta and married Arup Guha Thakurta and had two children by him. As a solo singer Ruma Guha Thakurta recorded a few Rabindra Sangeet such as Maya Bono Biharini Harini with Bollywood actor Kishore Kumar and 'Tomar Geeti Jagalo Smriti with Hemant Kumar in Lookochuri, Sukher Majhe tomai dekhechi in Jodi Jantem, and Potho Hara Tumi Pothika and some Rabindra Sangeet in 'Bakshaw Badal', 'Bajey Karun Surey' in Manihara, 'Momochitte Nite Nritey' in Ponchoshor among few. Later it was heard that in 1969, HMV recorded Ek Khana Megh Bheshe elo akase and Bathan Bathan by the versatile singer, which were super success. Her duet songs like Sajea Dopati with Bhupen Hazarika are also remembered till date. In the year 1993, after Satyajit Ray died, Ruma recorded Puroskare Sommane and paid tribute to him.

She also sang a song as tribute to Mother Teresa, after that she died. Most of the songs sung by Ruma were associated for awakening the society. The most excellent Bengali choral version of Ol' Man River is performed regularly on their concerts by Calcutta Youth Choir organized by Ruma Guha Thakurta. Other noted songs that the playback singer has sung are 'Tomar Amar Thikana', 'Ei Amader Desh', 'Bharat Jai Jan', 'Sare Jahan Se Accha', and so on. The Bengali version of We Shall Overcome, convereted by Shibdas Bandyopadhyay,as "Ek Din Surjyer Bhor" was recorded by the Calcutta Youth Choir.

In 1998, Hariharan won the National Award for the Best Playback Singer for the song "Mere Dushman Mere Bhai" from the Hindi movie Border, composed by the ace singer Anu Malik.

He has sung more than 500 Tamil songs and nearly 1000 Hindi songs in his singing career. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri and Yesudas Award for his awesome performance in music. Mohit Chauhanis an Bollywood singer who started his career singing Indian pop numbers with the famous band Silk Route. Mohit further released two albums, Boondein and Pehchan with Silk Route. Mohit Chauhan was born on March 11, 1966 in Nahan in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, where he grew up.

The singer first attended St. Xavier's School, Delhi and then again moved to Himachal Pradesh to complete his education. Mohit went to college in Bilaspur, Mandi, Kullu, and Nahan and graduated with a Master of Science in Geology from the Dharamshala College in Himachal. The bollywood singer never got formal training in music, but sings and plays guitar. After completing his education in Himachal, Mohit Chauhan came to New Delhi where he formed the band Silk Route. Swanand Kirkire to write songs in Marathi

Bollywood lyricist Swanand Kirkire has stated that he found writing lyrics in Marathi bit difficult, even though it is his mother-tongue. Swanand Kirkire has written two songs for Nitin Desai's magnum composition "Bal Gandharva", which is a biopic on Narayan Rajhansa, the Marathi theatre's legendery singer-turned-actor. Though Marathi is his mother-tongue as he said, Swanand was born and brought up in the Hindi restraint.

So writing in Marathi was a bit difficult for him. But producer Nitin Desai, filmmaker Ravi Jadhav, music composer Kushal Inamdar and actor Subodh Bhave encouraged the lyricist to give it a try.
Swanand Kirkire said his two compositions in the movie are situational where one of the situation relates to Bal Gandharva's relationship with Gohar Jaan. The lyricist said that he have written a qawali too, which is sung by the ace Bollywood singer Shankar Mahadevan; and a bhajan, sung by playback singer Bela Shende who has also honoured with the Nargis Dutt award. The lyrics are traditional and yet connect the youth well. They are all his explanations of the situation. Swanand Kirkire even mentioned that Bal Gandharva helps to reconstruct the time period and magnificence of Marathi musical plays and would be the biggest movie ever made in the language.

The profound lyricist has also tried to interlace poetry of the era into modern times. As mentioned this is his first Marathi movie and he was a little anxious when Nitin Desai asked him to write songs for it.
Swanand Kirkire was excited too, since he comes from theatre and belong to a family of classical singers. Swanand Kirkire won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics twice. First in 2007 for the song "Bande Me Tha Dum...Vande Mataram" from the 2006 Bollywood movie, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, second time he bagged the award in 2009, for the song "Behti Hawaa Sa Tha Woh..." from Rajkumar Hirani’s superhit film 3 Idiots. Swanand has also received Filmfare Award nomination for Best Lyrics for the song Piyu Bole in Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt starrer Parineeta in 2005.

Sonu turns music composer

Bollywood famous versatile playback singer Sonu Nigam have sung different genre songs in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil flicks. His initial years in Mumbai proved to be hard but in the beginning he struggled a lot by singing covers of Mohammad Rafi songs, mainly for a number of "Rafi Ki Yaadein" albums released by T-Series.

Now it has been reported that Sonu Nigam has taken his passion for music and Bollywood to a great height by another few indentation by turning music composer. Though he has composed music for his album earlier too, this is the first time that he has composed music for a movie. Sonu Nigam reveals that it was the famous tabla and percussionist genius Bickram Ghosh, who roped him to compose the music for the Girish Malik-directed film titled “Jal”, which is based on the lives of people living in the Kutch desert. Sonu Nigam asserted that Girish Malik was running across a few ideas in his mind with the singer to act in his film Jal.

As they discussed the music, Girish made him hear his idea of music that included a piece done by Bickram Ghosh, who is presenmtly working on a world music album with him. It was actually Bickram who offered that Sonu Nigam should compose the music for “Jal” with him and the singer immediately accepted the offer. Singer Shubha Mudgal will be singing on their first song. But while Sonu Nigam did take up the offer to compose music, he turned down the filmmaker’s request to act in the flick, though the reasons are not clear yet.

Meanwhile, Sonu Nigam will be singing in the glory of his live performance at the grand opening ceremony of the Cricket World Cup 2011. Not just that, he even got complemented by Bryan Adams on his singing skills and passion for music, on the Canadian pop star’s visit to the city. The singer was touched by Bryan’s warm gesture, he surprised him by singing along his song during rehearsal and has invited him to visit him whenever he go abroad next.

After singing with AR Rahman, the group called Pussycat Dolls are now associating with rap-performer Hard Kaur for their new album. The Pussycat Dolls' agent approached the singer to let somebody borrow her voice for their new album, as reported.

Asha to make her acting debut

The versatile and flawless playback singer of Bollywood Asha Bhosle is said to be making her acting debut in the Hindi film titled ‘Maaee’. The singer stated that she will not be a challenge because it runs in her family and singing too involves a certain limit of acting.

Asha Bhosle said that when she came to know about the role, she knew that she will be able to do it because acting is in her family. Asha told that her father was a drama artist.. She said that if we don’t put some acting in a dance song, no one would be able to dance on it. Asha Bhosle, who has sung more than 12,thousand songs in 18 languages. She further added that they have to put expressions in a song when the singers sing it. The Padma Vibhushan awardee will portray the main role in the film ‘Maaee’, which will show what happens when a woman is deserted by her only son and how she finds shelter in her daughter and son-in-law’s house.

Being co-produced by Subhash Dawar-Nitin Shankar and directed by debutant Mahesh Kodiyal, Maaee is a family drama which is scheduled to go on the floors in April this year and will be shot entirely in Mumbai. Talking about how the role Asha Bhosle asserted that recently she was in Pune for a show. After the show the team was in the hotel. Nitin works with us. And the filmmaker came and started narrating the story to the playback singer. The filmmaker told Asha Bhosle that the name of the film is ‘Maaee’. Kailash Kher is well known to be a Sufi singer as well, his style is quite influenced by Sufism. In 2007, the versatile singer participated in a concert tour that was organized in North America entitled "The Incredibles", and also featured Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam and Kunal Ganjawala respectively.

Kailash Kher, who has recorded his first-ever number for a Bangladeshi project, was clearly not in the know! There's no doubt of iota that Kailash Kher is gathering popularity across the globe. With a powerful voice like his, it's only obvious. The composer, who takes credit for having Kailash, is Mrinal Sen. Crossways, it's for Mrinal's movie, "Vaastab", that the pop singer had recorded his first-ever Bengali song. Mrinal Sen stated that when Kailash got in touch with the unit, the first name that came up was that of Kailash's.

Kailash, who shares a comfortable place with the composer, was happy enough. The song in a way sums up the central character a lovable outlaw Robin Hood.
Lyrics of the song, Ke kahar, which has been pennd by Zahid Akbar. It was learnt that the recording took place in Mumbai in the month of February. The song is at present being picturized in Bangkok. Mrinal also said that the response within the industry is just amazing. But Kailash Kher is unfazed by the hubbub surrounding him in Bangladesh and he had reasons for it. Antara Mitra participated in Sony Entertainment Television's reality show Indian Idol Season 2. Antara Mitra hails from Maslandpur, a small town in West Bengal, near Calcutta, India. The singer showed a keen interest in music since childhood, and further she decided to persue her career in singing.

Antara Mitra was eliminated from the contest, well-known music director Anu Malik offered her playback singing work. When Antara sang the song "Bairi Piya" it was also appreciated by most of the judges. When Karan Johar appeared on the show he said that Antara's performance was a perfect gift to Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Antara also sang “Tu Rutha To Mein" from the film Jawani. The judges liked her performance. The singer got good comments from the judges. Even Priyanka Chopra said she has a great future in playback singing, when the girl sang Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na from the movie Ghar.

The judges in Indian Idol Season 2 have always loved Antara's performances. Amisha Patel said that if there were rose buds on the sets, they would have bloomed listening to her sweet voice. The versatile playback singer Sonu Nigam who have made a clean and clear image among his fans seems to be on cloud nine these days. This is happening all because of the super success of a filmy number that he sang in 54 variations. Sonu also sang at the opening ceremony of the Cricket World Cup in Dhaka and sang with international musician Bryan Adams during rehearsals.

Now the singer is back on a music reality show after a short period. Sonu Nigam had earlier judged a couple of music reality shows. When Sonu was asked that what kept him away from judging more mature singing shows and the singer replied that in the starting, he was cautious about the show because he don’t trust music shows at all. The team approached the flawless singer about three months ago and he at that time had refused. He further added that at first he thought that X-Factor would be like that too. But then when Sonu Nigam saw the international shows and then he immediately realised that this was different, and hence became a part of it.

The singer with no doubts felt peaceful when he was there for some time. The singer started at a very young age so he wanted to take time off to do things that he like. Anu Malik likes Aamir

Anu Malik also expressed his desire of working with ace Bollywood actor Aamir Khan. One cannot forget that Anu Malik had composed some evergreen numbers for Aamir's Akele Hum Akele Tum and both Aamir and Anu are actually very close to each other. In fact Anu Malik revealed that even though he has worked with Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan in quite a few movies, it is only Aamir Khan who he loves most because of his good and simple nature.

Anu Malik also added that the two are good buddies and Aamir gives him lots of warmth and love. Not restricting himself just to Aamir, Anu expressed his admiration for Aamir's wife Kiran Rao too mentioning that he would love to work with her as she has proved her talent after making Dhobi Ghat. Adnan Turns Actor

Adnan Sami the most popular singer who have made a big contribution to Hindi cinema. And now the singer is looking forward to sing a different tune. Reports suggested that Adnan’s ex-wife Sabah Galadari was first deciding to produce his acting debut. Adnan Sami clarified the news by mentioning that it’s expected that the movie will go on the floors in summer 2011 most probably. He further added that it’s a funny script with loads of muffle. Besides acting, Adnan will also be composing music for the movie. Adnan stated that if the producers feel that he can do justice to the music score, they will approach him directly. He will only ask to sing his own songs in the film. The singer said that it would look creepy if he sounded like someone else in the song sequences, especially since people recognise his voice very well.

Adnan Sami also revealed that another script, which is a dramatic love story, is on process. The Bheegi bheegi raaton mein...flawless singer is, though, pretty sure that he doesn’t want to play a musician in all his movies. He said that some people carry the attitude that if someone is a musician, then he’ll act as one too.
Adnan Sami also throws light on his now halted project with debutante Bela Segal, who’s director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s sister. Bela Segal had written a script about an overweight man searching for true love in life. But by the time she came to Adnan with the script, the singer had already lost around 145 kgs and didn’t fit in the role and so he turned down the offer.

Few days back it was also reported that Adnan Sami last came in limelight when he wasn’t allowed to fly out of India for the launch of a perfume that dedicated a signature line to him. The singer had to take special permissions from the court to go abroad and had to finish with the formalities. But Adnan is looking forward to go on a world tour sometime around coming July. He is in full mood to travel and is in between of finalising the exact dates. The singer said that he will be touring Australia and New Zealand first. After that he will be flying to the US, Canada and the UK. Adnan was also honoured with an award for his contribution to music by a non-profit organisation at a function in mid-February. Reacting to the award, Adnan asserted that it’s a great source of pride for him. Awards, for any reasons are lovely gesticulation of appreciation.

A R Rahman lost in Oscars

But there was no hatred on the part of A R Rahman who had in advance stated that he did not hope to win this year. A R Rahman was also nominated for the Best Original Score but he lost out to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from The Social Network. A R Rahman who teaned up with Randy Newman at the show also posted a picture of him with the American composer on the social networking website. A R Rahman even wrote that with Randy Newman, who won the Oscar for Toy Story 3. Rahman has won two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fourteen Filmfare Awards, eleven South Filmfare Awards in addition to several other awards and nominations.

Time magazine also gave him the title of Mozart of Madras and several Tamil observers and his fans have jotted him with the nickname Isai Puyal which means Music Storm. in 2009, Time magazine added A R Rahman in its list of World's Most Influential People. Rahman was the 1995 recipient of the Mauritius National Award and the Malaysian Award for the contributions he made exclusively to music. He was also nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for his first West-End production.

Sulochana Chavan graced with Lata Mangeshkar award

Veteran Lavni singer Sulochana Chavan was honoured with the Lata Mangeshkar Award for year 2010.The award, organised by the Maharashtra government was presented to the singer by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Born on September 28, 1929, Lata Mangeshkar is the best-known and most respected playback singers in India.

Lata Mangeshkar's career started in 1942 and has spanned over six and a half decades. The honourable singer was featured in the Guinness Book Of World Records from 1974 to 1991 for having made the most recordings in the world.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan can’t leave India

It has been said that after 25 hours of detention,

the singer was finally allowed to leave the place on conditions, with the Indian government hold on his passport and asked him to reappear on February 17 in the court. A ‘Seizure Memo’ was issued, which is Pakistan’s High Commission’s guarantee letter to the Ministry of External Affairs that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will not leave India until he gets the clean chit. It’s true that Rahat is free for now from detention. He is not arrested. The singer and two of his troupe members were caught supposedly carrying Rs. 1.24 lakh (dollar) in undeclared foreign currency.

Asha said that there are lots of talented youngsters who take part in television shows to achieve fame.

They dress up, wear make-up and dance while singing. This dancing and dressing up is not required for a authentic singer. Asha Bhosle also asked parents not to encourage their kids to participate in these kind of shows and as a substitute they should mould them with classical music training. The voice that left us

Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi was born on February 4, 1922. He was an most honourable Indian vocalist in the Hindustani classical tradition. In 2008, he was honoured with the Bharat Ratna. Bhimsen Joshi's music has been appreciated both by the critics and the masses.

Pandit Joshi also lend his voice for several films, including Basant Bahar (1956) with Manna Dey, Birbal My Brother (1973) with Pandit Jasraj and Nodi Swami Naavu Irodhu Heege. He also sang for the films Tansen (1958) and Ankahee (1985). But it was really sad to know that the famous flawless classical singer Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi, died of prolonged illness on January 24, 2011.

His funeral was held with all state honours at Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune yesterday evening. Later, Bhimsen Joshi's mortal remains were taken to the Vaikunth Crematorium. As his last journey started from his home, his bhajans and songs were played along the way. It is said that he was suffering from multiple organ failure that is urinary infection, respiratory, intestines and kidney problems and was recently admitted to the ICU.

Asha Bhosle team up with Shujaat

Sitar player and singer Ustad Shujaat Khan said in an interview that he had a great time recording an album with legendary singer Asha Bhosle. He also mentioned that he keeps on meeting different people and when he met Ashaji, he thought let's do album with her.

And he had a great time recording this album with her titled "Naina Lagai Ke" based on classical songs. Produced by Sa Re Ga Ma, the album is garland of ghazals, folk and traditional songs. The sitar player added further that a couple of them are composed by him. One of them is composed by his son and a few of them are old traditional songs.

Bappi gets angry

The known music composer of Bollywood industry Bappi Lahiri has sent a legal notice to the makers of the live action animation movie Toonpur Ka Superrhero for modelling a cartoon character in the film on the singer. The notice has been sent to director Kireet Khurana as well as producers Kumar Mangat Pathak and Krishika Lulla of Eros Entertainment.

Kireet Khurana stated that they have received the legal notice Friday night that claimed that there were similarities between Bappi-ji and movie’s character Gappi. The character Gappi, who has long hair and wears jazzy outfits, is a musician. Gappi as mentioned wears dark glasses and lots of gold chains. Bappi Lahiri said that the character is a representation of him and he is not too happy about it. In a way to clarify the matter, the filmmaker said that they have been inspired by many sources to showcase the animated character Gappi.

His clothes are like Elvis Presley, the lights on the clothes are like the ones Amitabh Bachchan wore in Yaaraana for the song Saara Zamaana. So there are many elements to his personality and not just one. Toonpur Ka Superhero also features Ajay Devgn and Kajol playing humans who enter the world of cartoons. The movie will be released coming Friday.

Neeraj a cool composer

Having been born outside of India, Neeraj Shridhar totally connect with keeping the Indian feeling alive in abroad. Once Neeraj was in a train in Sweden and started singing Mere Sapnon Ki Raani, he didn’t remember all the Hindi lyrics and put in some English to it.

His buddies told him then and there that he should try mixing English-Hindi and make new age tracks! And since then he decided to enter into the world of Indi-Pop music. This was the first Musical-e-Azam in which Neeraj Shridhar was also playing his guitar while singing. Neeraj’s composing skills were totally there on display for all on live radio on MeA. Neeraj said that he’s totally been inspired the most by Kishore Kumar. Neeraj told that his experience with Himesh Reshammiya is the one that made him realize that in the real world of Bollywood music, anything can happen.

Salman Khan was in love with Neeraj’s voice and wanted him to sing for Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. The song ‘Dil Di Nazar’ had been recorded, and Neeraj had sung it decently well. It is said that for the end of Season Four of MeA, Band Bajaa aur Baaraat will all be here!!!

Asha Bhosle is not Singing for Movies

She must have sung romantic film songs to cabaret to other genres in her six-decade career but everyone felt surprised when Asha Bhosle admitted that she is cutting down her presence in film music because she had enough of playback singing already.

The singer pointed that some people retire at the age of 50 but she is still singing and have sung so much. She has recorded 13, 000 songs which is not very easy a task. The 77 year-old singer said that she is lucky to have sung songs with great singers and great musical directors but she admitted that she is really tired. She also said that whenever there are offers that would come in, something very special, she would definitely sing but otherwise, she has sung enough. She covered all the genres of music and she even pointed that if anyone would pick a song, he or she would not be able to say that Asha has recorded something similar to it.

She quantified though that she has not stopped singing for she now concentrates on world concerts. She also said that she loves to sing in English and Spanish or in other languages. She is the sister of veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar and is an awardee of the Padma Vibhushan award. She is known for her versatility and intimitable style. Many would say that every singer should possess such characteristics. She stressed that every singer should have her own style. Her profile includes film music, pop, bhajans, traditional Indian Classical music, Rabindra Sangeet, qawwalis and ghazals among others.

She is known for songs such as “Chura liya hai tum ne”, “Dum maro dum”, “Mera kuch saaman”, “Mehbooba mehbooba” and masterpieces such as “Umrao Jaan” and “Dil cheez kya hai”. Suresh Wadkar

Suresh Wadkar was born on 1954. He is an Indian playback singer. He performs in both Hindi and Marathi language movies. Though interested for Indian classical music, Suresh entered the Sur-Singar competition in 1976. Suresh Wadkar won the competition which was judged by composers from the Indian film industry including Jaidev.

Jaidev later offered the singer the song "Seene Mein Jalan" from the flick Gaman. He has also performed in the film Paheli that was released back in 1977. It has been learnt that Lata Mangeshkar was so impressed with his voice that she strongly recommended him to film personalities including Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Khayyam and Kalyanji-Anandji. Laxmikant-Pyarelal, liked his voice so much that they soon recorded his duet with Lata "Chal Chameli Bagh Mein" for Krodhi that was released in 1981.

Suresh Wadkar also produced the flick Tanman.com. He was a judge on the Indian TV singing show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs International and for the 2005 Sanjeet Awards. Suresh Wadkar has for the first time sung a song in the upcoming Tamil film Kanden Kadhalai. This film is an adaptation of the Hindi Blockbuster Jab We Met.

Asha’s daughter-in-law asks for divorce

Season 2 of Chhote Ustaad to be held in Pak

The return of Pyarelal

Music director Pyarelal, the existing member of the Laxmikant-Pyarelal composer jodi, returned with a concert 25 years after his partner’s demise. The two-hour show which was organised by Raju Shah, who’s Pyarelal’s family friend, and Manoj Desai, who is the owner of the G-7 multiplex in Bandra, is set to be held at the Shanmukhananda Hall in Dadar on October 30 respectively.

Raju Shah agrees with the statement that he’s been in search for Pyarelal for the last three to four years to do a show. Laxmikant, Pyarelal and Raju Shah have been buddies for three decades, but every time he tried to approach, Pyarelal would get away. Few days it was seen that Pyarelal had come for one of Raju’s concerts and Raju Shah used that opportunity to invite himself over for tea.

The very next sunny morning Raju asked Pyarelal once again if he’d like to do a show in the 1970s style, and to his surprise Pyarelal agreed at once. Pyarelal, who has been seen very busy with recordings, will be rehearsing with singers like Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sudesh Bhosle and Suresh Wadkar next week. Tickets have been moderately priced between Rs 300 and Rs 2,000. No Bollywood fame have been invited to the show because Raju Shah thinks that the celebs would take all the attention away from his biggest star.

Talat Aziz to sing in Kuwait

Seems like after the AR Rahman tragedy, as far as the anthem for the Common Wealth Games goes, many singers from Bollywood fraternity are ready to pitch in to make this event a grand one. The first to be approached is Sukhwinder Singh who will sing his most popular song 'Kawa Kawa' from Monsoon Wedding for the closing ceremony of the Common Wealth Games.

AR Rahman is also performing the Oscar winning 'Jai Ho' for the opening ceremony of the Games. Kailash Kher along with Naresh and Paresh Kamath, the members of his band, Kailash composed a song called 'Yaaron Jashn Manao' pleasing to the people of India to celebrate the Games, rather than criticizing it.

Lata turns 81

The voice that has charmed people for years and till date, honoured with the Bharat Ratna Award, the flawless singer who is considered as a boon for the whole Bollywood industry, the most respected Lata Mangeshkar turned 81 today. The legendary playback singer grows younger with her voice even as she gets older.

Popularly known as 'Lata di', she started her singing career in 1942. Till now she lent her voice to over one thousand Bollywood films.. Lata Mangeshkar sung songs in over 36 regional Indian languages and foreign languages. Lata ji’s incomparable voice quality and singing talent took her to 'Gunnies Books Of World Record' for maximum recording in the world during 1974-1991.

Lata ji bagged several awards during her singing career, which includes Padma Bhushan (1969), Padma Vibhushan (1999), Dada Saheb Phalke Award (1989), Maharashtra Bhushan Award (1997), NTR National Award (1999), Bharat Ratna (2001) and three National Film Awards. We wish a very Happy Birthday to Lata Mangeshkar.

Bad side of Udit Narayan

The man with the finest voice, revealed his bad side recently. The very famous singer Udit Narayan, who has sung some of the best romantic Bollywood hits, reportedly, thrashed his driver, Kumar, over the dirty interiors of his C-class Mercedes.

According to the sources, Kumar has been working as a driver with the flawless singer for last 25 years and has been very loyal to him. Recently while they were returning to their Lokhandwala home, Udit Narayan noticed an empty coffee cup lying in the car. Suddenly, the singer started shouting at the driver for not throwing it away. However, the driver reasoned that it is not his job to remove leftover stuff from the car. At this, Udit, who was accompanied by wife Deepa Narayan , completely lost his cool and started beating the driver as soon he got out of the car on reaching the building.

With this harsh incident, Kumar left the job. When contacted, Kumar admitted that Udit Narayan hit him but in the between this conversation, the driver at once changed his track, and denied the entire story. When Udit was asked about the incident he told to speak with his manager. On calling his manager, he said, that fights do happen in all family set-ups. Even Udit Narayan asked the driver to join from the next day, Kumar didn't turned up....

Shaan sings for his wife

Famous Bollywood playback singer Shaan opened the show for designer Troy Costa at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week and the singer also sang a love ballad Where do I begin from the film Love Story for his wife, Radhika. It is said that the couple celebrated a decade of their marriage.

While Shaan dressed up in a black tailored suit with checks in self-print, Radhika on the other side was sporting an off-shoulder gold colour gown. When asked singer Shaan whether he was nervous while walking the ramp, he said that he wasn’t nervous but yes, very excited. Even his wife Radhika did really well.

SEL to launch their own label

The SEL (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) team, who recently became the first Bollywood composers to launch their own iPhone application, are already planning to start up with another project. The trio jodi will become the second Bollywood team, after Vishal-Shekhar, to launch their own record label, SEL Songs.

Shankar Mahadevan added by saying that the trio now want their music to reach people directly, without having to rely on movies. Though the label will cover all sorts of artistes and genres, the first album will belong to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.

Loy Mendonca told that it will be an album of their non-Bollywood compositions . Shankar asserted that between the three of them, they cover the whole spectrum of music. Loy mentioned that they will also be putting quick previews of their raw tunes on it.

Discomfited sounding Niigaam becomes Nigam again

Bollywood’s versatile singer Sonu Nigam had changed the spelling of his name to the discomfited sounding 'Niigaam', but that phase, Sonu told, is over now. Now, the surname is back to being Nigam again as it has nothing to do with numerology anymore.

Sonu said that he's been progressive and that he's surprised at himself for all the changes he has undergone, including the name, the hairstyle and the anger management. The singer told that the name change was one of the journeys he had to take in life. He had to go through that way to learn the truth. And so he has now very well realised that he don't want to meddle with these forces. The singer is happy enough with all the astrological arrangements he was born with.

Now he’s happy finding success with his original name –Sonu Nigam. Sonu Nigam is packed with work these days. There's a romantic album and definitely a movie, in addition to it the usual shows and singing that he does, ofcourse. Sonu said that he likes to keep himself engaged in multiple things everytime. So, there's obviously this reality show Chhote Ustaad that he is doing right now. There's also a film in his kitty, but he didn’t talked much about it…

Asha Bhosle's flight got delayed

Nearly 170 passengers who were to fly to Singapore on a Kingfisher flight recently were put to hassle after their flight was delayed for almost thirteen hours. On a strange note, the versatile Bollywood playback singer Asha Bhosle who was celebrating her birthday the same day, was also booked on the flight. Asha Bhosle was off to Singapore for the promotion of her album.

Asha Bhosle, alongwith singer Sudesh Bhosle, RM Kadam, advocate general of Maharashtra and his wife, after they finally boarded the flight. Asha Bhosle twitted that, "The airline celebrated my birthday high above the Bay Of Bengal! Thanks everyone!" She also said, "Reached Singapore a few hours back and found many Birthday wishes still pouring in! Thanks a lot to everyone once again!"

Atif suffers from backbone injury

Violin maestro L Subramaniam and his wife, versatile playback singer Kavita Krishnamurthy are facing a big problem these days. The reports states that their maid, with support from a few Dalit organisations, accused the couple of harassing her.

The maid complained to the police of harassment after the celebrity couple named her as a suspect in a theft case. Police confirmed receiving the complaint from the maid, Bhagya. No case has been registered. The couple had earlier lodged a complaint after Rs 55K in cash and a gold chain worth Rs 75K had gone missing from their residence at the High Income Group Housing Colony in Rajmahal Vilas 2nd Stage. However, Bollywood singer Kavita, meanwhile, denied the allegation of harassment.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan wants to learn Marathi

Lata honoured at Big Marathi Music Awards

Big FM, the radio and Goodknight Advanced presented the Big Marathi Music Awards 2010. The event was organised to recognise and honour the talented people from the Marathi music industry who have contributed to take Marathi music to greater heights.

The versatile singer, Lata Mangeshkar bagged the Lifetime Achievement Award for Best Singer. The others winners under this category were Shrinivas Khale was given the Best Music Director Award and Mangesh Padgaonkar was honoured with the Best Lyricist Award.

Natrang bagged all the awards in the Film category. The winners were Guru Thakur as Best Lyricist for Khel Mandala, Ajay Atul honoured with the Best Music award, and so on…

The announcement of the awards saw a large number of entries from the Marathi music industry. These entries were judged by jury members from the industry including Suresh Wadkar, Swanand Kirkire and Milind Ingle.
